Stromatolites at 3.5 billion years old are the earth's oldest living things. The earth is 4 billion years old. These were uncovered in the Ottawa River a few years ago when the water level dropped to lower than it has ever been. There only a few sites in the world, one in Australia, one in the US and here in Ottawa - A weird feeling to stand on something that old
About Stephanie Moore
Colour is the most striking feature to paintings and photographs created by Stephanie Moore whose interpretation of the world began through painting in 1995. Great photo Stephanie. There are actually two sites in Western Australia. One in Cervantes and one in Shark Bay (both north of Perth.) There are thrombolites in Lake Clifton (south of Perth) which are closely related to stromatolites. I believe there are some sites in the Eastern States as well.
